IRINA METAMORFOSES - IDENTITY |
Ever since I know myself, my purpose is to evolve. I don’t know how, when or where to, but I know I don’t live without reflection, without questioning. For me, to create is to die and to reborn. The seed appears, grows, materializes (or not), and dies, only to fertilize another seed which is already planted. That is why I don’t name my projects as “projects”, but rather “metamorphoses”. Because life is that, a constant metamorphosis where nothing is definitive. As time goes by I learn there are no borders or lines that break, but rather gradients. It’s only the need for control that impels us to freeze ideas, concepts, ideals, and forms of life in time and space / in body and thought.
My work is hybrid. It’s neither Photography nor Digital Art. It’s neither Dance nor Video. It’s Everything and Nothing. It’s metamorphoses that traverse me and impel me to create. Creation is transformation.

FORMAÇÃO
TRAINING
Talvez esteja escrito no meu código genético.
E quem sabe no próximo.

DANCE/PERFORMANCE I met the Oriental Dance in 2005. There always was a connection between myself and the Arab fragrance. Maybe it is written in my genetic code. Since the first class, Dance is a passion I didn’t know I had. For seven years I struggled with it among wars and truces, coming and going, leaving and consuming. Only in 2012, when I decided to turn my life upside down, I understood that Dance has to be danced. I cannot escape no more. It was because I met, by mere chance (is it?), the Oriental Movement (concept created by Iris Lican and developed in cooperation with Mariana Lemos and Baltazar Molina) that I discovered the true genesis of dance. Contrary to all professional social organization and market structures, Dance is not a profession. It is not a career. It is neither reserved to people who take ballet lessons since 3 years old, nor to skinny people and beautiful faces. Dance is an expression which the word lacks. It is innate, it is corporal communication, it is self-knowledge, it is the path for a fuller experience of the body, and perhaps the true window of the Soul. Hence I keep dancing as long as I am in this body. And, who knows, in the next.
GRAPHIC ARTS All my training is on Arts; I have a bachelor's degree in Multimedia Graphics. The four years I attended the course were, besides the adversities, an immense journey amidst new and old passions. There I had the opportunity to acquire more knowledge about Photography, Video, Digital Art and Philosophy, which are the values I treasure and bring with me.
